Advocacy for the Unique Learning Needs of the Individual Student and Adults with Disabilities

We provide parents with advocacy services to help their child access the education they deserve.

Our Mission Statement:  To Help Students With Special Needs Receive An Appropriate Education Based On Their Unique Learning Style, With The Goal Of An Outcome-Based Education, For Independent Living After Graduation.

Special Education and Disability Advocacy Services, LLC (SPEDADV) is here to help both children and adults with disabilities.  We also advocate for older students who are in vocational school or college, who have been identified as having a learning disability.  Our advocacy services further extend to adults with disabilities, who want to learn independent living skills so they can access their communities.

We help parents understand their child's educational rights under federal and state laws, navigate the appropriate educational services available, and empower parents with the tools they need to communicate and work effectively with schools.

We provide the same strong advocacy for young adults who are in secondary education - helping them understand their educational rights as vocational and college students and empowering them to communicate, under the appropriate laws, their unique learning style to administrators so they can do well in school.

SPEDADV began in 2005.  We have helped many students in special education attain appropriate educational services with positive behavioral support. We help parents become part of the school team - identifying their child's individual unique needs and learning styles.  Parents become respected, valuable members of their child's school team.  Older students who have graduated learn how to advocate for their unique learning style with our support.  And adults who are no longer needing educational support, but wanting to learn important independence skills - like personal, homemaker, and community access - have the one on one support of our services to learn and grow as important and valuable members of their communities.

Stephanie James, owner and senior advocate, has a law degree from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law.  She has a grown daughter on the Autism Spectrum (who is an active participant in her community).   Stephanie brings years of experience, along with her legal education, in advocating for appropriate special education services and community access skills.  Special Education and Disability Advocacy, LLC brings together a team of parents, educators, therapists, and community service providers to work in a cohesive, positive manner for students and adults with disabilities.
