Services

SPEDADV provides advocacy services for students with disabilities and
helps their parents/guardians develop a working relationship with schools
as valuable members of their child's IEP team. SPEDADV identifies
applicable federal and state laws, including:
- IDEA
- Colorado State Regulations
- Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act
- NCLB
- ADA
- After the initial family consultation, SPEDADV works with parents and the
education team to:
- Review current educational placement
- Decide on the necessary evaluations to be performed
- Determine the appropriate education placement
- Work with District administrators to ensure teachers have the
appropriate training for the student's disabilities
- Work with the entire IEP team (including parents) in writing the
IEP, with the appropriate Goals and measurable Objectives, and related
services
- Monitor the implementation of the IEP
- Provide continuous support for
review and updates per the IEP's Goals and Objectives for functional and
academic progress
