Advocacy Services for Education and Adult Independent Services
K-12 EDUCATIONAL ADVOCACY SERVICES
SPEDADV provides advocacy services for students with disabilities in kindergarten through 12th grade/graduation. We begin with a family consultation and then we work with parents and the school to develop an appropriate Individual Educational Plan/IEP for the student. We help parents develop a good working relationship with their child's school, empowering parents with the tools to communicate and work effectively as part of their child's IEP team. In addition, we help parents understand their child's educational rights under the applicable federal and state laws.
CONSULTATION SERVICES
SPEDADV also provides consultation services in lieu of direct advocacy services. We work with parents to improve their advocacy skills for their child, providing parents with the opportunity to consult with us before and after IEP meetings.
VOCATIONAL AND COLLEGE ADVOCACY SERVICES
Our educational advocacy services extend to students with learning disabilities who are experiencing difficulties in vocational schools and college. We work with the student to help them learn about the appropriate laws that support them at the post-high school level, as well as help them learn self-advocacy skills.
ADULT INDEPENDENT LIVING SERVICES
As an independent contractor we provide Suppported Living Services under the Medicaid Waiver Program for adults with disabilities. We work with the individual to learn personal and homemaker skills, and take them into their communities to participate in many activities outside of their homes, as important and valuable members of society.
